Blog 1:My workplace is at Alvarado Middle school, home of the cougars! The school is located at Union City. It looks really organized and professional and the school is as big as a high school, maybe like Hayward High. There are tons of people who work there Monday through Friday including the principle, vice, staff and what looks like hundreds of teachers. My workplace employs people who are professional, social, good with children, not easily tempered and have a big enough education to where they can teach others. Most of the workers have a 2 to 4 year college degree. The school serves middle schoolers grades 6-8. One of the biggest strengths in my workplace is the organization. The teachers at my workplace have their learning plans planned out for the next weeks and they always know exactly how things should go during class. One of the weaknesses in my workplace is that the students do not all get much support, or maybe they do not look for it. As I was going through some quizes and inputting grades I saw that the students in the classroom either failed drastically or passed with flying colors, there were not many that were in between.
Blog 2: My mentor's name is Mrs.Malone she is a history and language arts teacher at Alvarado. She usually gets to the school early to make copies, and write the agenda and objectives of the day on the board. On tuesdays she has three classes, her morning class (AM), her afternoon class (PM) and her 5th period class which is mixed with a variety of students who either need extra help in the subjects or speak a second language. When the students first come into the classroom they have an organizer where they fill out something similar to Impact's do nows and then after several moments of silence they review the answers and she gives directions so that they can begin their classwork.
